    Position Summary

     

     

    The Sr. Manager- Network Services plans, manages, oversees, integrates and evaluates the work of technical and professional staff onshore/offshore responsible for the operations, maintenance and support of voice, data, and network security services and equipment. Manage third party equipment and services vendors to ensure service level commitments are met and cost-effective solutions are delivered. Collaborate with the business units as a solutions design consultant for complex communications systems

     

     

    Responsibilities

     

    • Serve as Service Delivery Manager (SDM) for an outsource provider’s LAN, WAN, Telecom, and Network Security towers.
    • Plans, organizes, controls, integrates and evaluates the work of assigned staff; manages, recommends and oversees the devel¬opment, implementation and evaluation of work programs, plans, processes, systems and procedures to achieve corporate and department goals, objectives and performance measures.
    • Regularly monitors performance and provides coaching for performance improvement and development; provides compensation and other rewards to recognize performance.
    • Manages and oversees development and maintenance of the Corporation’s voice, data and video telecommunications systems, switches and equipment.
    • Supervises and directs the installation, troubleshooting, modification, maintenance and repair of network system infrastructure, equipment, software and services; manages vendor contracts for systems support and maintenance.
    • Manages the maintenance and support of voice telecommunication systems, facilities and equipment including call center routing, voice mail messaging, automated voice response, automated dialing, computer-telephony integration, and other complex, state-of-the-art telecommunications systems and services.
    • Responds to reports of system and circuit outages and degraded performance issues; identifies and initiates implementation of solutions through internal staff or outside contractors/vendors.
    • Participates in development of information technology policies and procedures.
    • Interviews, analyzes and documents end user system and network requirements; researches, tests and evaluates vendor hardware and software products; evaluates products for their conformance with customer requirements and compatibility with the Corporation’s operating system and network environment; makes recommendations on the selection and purchase of hardware and software.
    • Manages, directs and oversees the maintenance of assigned technical system and configuration documentation and logs to maintain the technical knowledge base; oversees documentation of network components and history.
    • Monitors trends and developments in systems, networking and multi-platform communication technologies.
    • Assistance to the Technical Support teams in the deployment of agreed information security technology solutions.
    • Manage security incidents to minimize business impact when necessary
    • Participates in special projects or performs duties in other areas as requested.

    Requirements

     

    • Completion of a college or university degree in information systems/technology or related field
    • Ten years of experience in the support, design and installation of networking/telephony systems including 3 years of supervisory and/or management experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 
    • Operating system architecture, characteristics, commands and components applicable to corporate computer platforms.
    • Network architecture and theory and principles of network design and integration, including topologies and protocols.
    • Principles, methods and techniques for layout, installation, configuration, integration and operation of network systems, equipment and devices.
    • Standard network management software, tools and utilities.
    • Methods and techniques for performing connectivity testing and network analysis and troubleshooting.
    • Principles, practices and methods of network administration and maintenance, including configuration, performance tuning and diagnostic tools.
    • Security principles, practices, techniques and tools.
    • Network media and cable plant design and layout.
    • Basic principles and practices of systems analysis and design.
    • Principles, practices and techniques of IT security management, including current trends and developments, concepts, methods and techniques.
    • Standard business support software, including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, graphics and database programs.
    • Disaster planning and recovery techniques.
    • Internet/intranet technologies and techniques and network e-mail systems.
    • Principles and practices of effective management and supervision.
    • Develop conceptual frameworks and apply state-of-the-art technology to the design and management of network infrastructures.
    • Analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives and make sound recommendations.
    • Plan, organize and complete projects efficiently and in accordance with corporate quality standards.
    • Configure, maintain, manage and tune the operations of complex network systems to achieve optimal technical performance and user support.
    • Troubleshoot complex system, hardware, software and network connectivity problems and make or recommend modifications.
    • Prepare clear, concise and accurate program documentation, reports of work performed, and other written materials.
    • Make sound, independent judgments within established guidelines.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.
    • Establish and maintain effective customer-focused working relationships with managers, customers, vendors, consultants, employees and others encountered in the course of work.
