    Position Summary

    Provide administrative support for the department management of disability claims, including copying claim files and other copy requests, sorting mail, filing documents in claim files, medical records requests, making member address changes and other tasks as needed. Able to review claim documents for completeness and follow up to secure missing information. Deliver responsive customer service to claimants, treating providers, and disability staff. Enter all relevant information on disability and absence claims into customized database.


    • Provide administrative support for the department's management of disability and absence claims including the set-up and distribution of new claims.
    • Handle routine phone inquiries from, or to, disability claimants and/or respective clients.
    • Contact treating providers to determine the existence and availability of information relevant to claims, and requests medical records.
    • Secure follow up information on appointments and other documents required to complete the disability determination process
    • Prepares claim histories of documents received to arrange for peer reviews
    • Update client specific systems with information
    • Other job duties as required.



    • A high school diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
    • One (1) year previous experience providing administrative support within a claims environment.  
    • Experience in FMLA/STD/LTD/Worker’s Comp is preferred.  
    • Attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet multiple and changing deadlines.
    • Strong telephone, written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills to exchange information with a variety of professional and non-professional customers.  
    • Working knowledge of personal computers with ability to use standard word processing software applications.  
    • Strong problem solving ability with good organization skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
