Position Summary



The Sr. Client Engineer is responsible for providing technical guidance and direction of the Crawford Client Engineering team in maintaining a stable and functional computing environment. This includes coaching and mentoring of a client engineering team in developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly, desktop imaging, application packaging, scripting, LANDesk operations, Group Policy and desktop security solutions.





  • Responsible for installing and implementing client systems that will enhance the business user’s experience while minimizing IT resource overhead.
  • Builds Crawford & Company Desktop Images (Windows 7, Windows 10, et al)
  • Delivers a stable Microsoft Windows OS (7/10) image for the Crawford Desktop environment.
  • Responsible for providing Tier 2/ Tier 3 level of user support analyzing and resolving escalated end user hardware and software incidents or problems in a timely and accurate fashion as well as providing additional training to the lower level support positions when required.
  • Analyzes, builds, tests, and deploys software installation packages for the Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems using Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) technology, iVanti LANDesk, and Microsoft MDT Tool sets.
  • Executes on-going application maintenance, recommend and design/implement improvements. 
  • Administers and manages the workstation operating system patching/security update program
  • Responsible for the full desktop operating system image life cycle including: initial image problem research and discovery, contacting vendors and developers for information as required, image development and construction, image testing, deployment, third-level production support, and providing full image documentation and build notes.
  • Analyzes, troubleshoots, and correct production image engineering defects.
  • Actively Supports and Develops IT Policies, Procedures, and Documentation; Assists in the creation and maintains standards as they relate to delivery of network services.
  • Responsible for documenting changes to environment and maintaining inventory of standard hardware/local software by utilizing the current inventory/database/asset system.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through education programs, workshops, or other educational opportunities that may be presented. Assists in the training of staff. 
  • Keeps abreast of current events.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor degree in computer science, engineering or related field preferred
  • 5-7 years of hands on experience with designing and managing Microsoft Windows Desktop infrastructures in a large geographically dispersed corporate environment (3000+ users)
  • 5+ years of experience delivering desktop images and demonstrated knowledge of service and application delivery
  • Must have prior experience and a solid understanding of application and deployment tools to include LANDesk, SCCM, and Ghost
  • Knowledge and understanding of both virtual (VMware/Citrix) and physical environments
  • Working knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems and registry – Windows 7 and Windows 10
  • Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory group policy for organization units
  • Experience configuring and repairing desktop and laptop hardware
  • Window 7/10 design, configuration & deployment; Window 7/10 Build and Image
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook and Office365
    batch files as well as wmi scripts
  • Application packaging for LANDesk, Microsoft SCCM, Dell Wyse, environments
  • Microsoft and 3rd Party application security patching and deployment methodologies
  • Application Virtualization and Virtual Desktop Computing
  • Ability to balance ever-changing priorities
  • Good technical oral and written communication skills a must
  • Must have working knowledge, skills and ability to understand Microsoft Windows Active Directory and how it works within the client environment
  • Effectively manage relationships with key support partners, business representatives and vendors
