Position Summary

 

 

Our Sr. Legal Administrative Assistant provides a wide variety of litigation services, administrative, and general office support. 

 

We are seeking an Administrative Professional preferably with 7 years of experience within an insurance industry.  You will prepare reports and correspondence, requiring knowledge of legal terminology and document formats, such as contracts, summonses, briefs, complaints and compliance, motions and licensing protocols.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Responds, when appropriate, to verbal and written requests for information from employees, management personnel, defense attorneys, federal and state agencies concerning policies and procedures or applications, action needed/case activity status, coordination of schedules for conferences
  • Open/distribute/redirect incoming paper mail, and respond independently whenever possible and authorized to do so
  • Opens and indexes new files in electronic claims systems.
  • Maintains filing systems; classifies sorts, and files correspondence, records, pleadings and other documents
  • Composes and responds to correspondence within jurisdiction of authority. 
  • Coordinates Legal Record Hold process
  • Coordinate Subpoena responses
  • Coordinate vendor billing 
  • Coordinate and issue email invitations for group conferences/meetings, including coordination of catering of meals when necessary
  • Prepares and submits expense reports
  • Processes and pays invoices for legal services
  • Maintains assigned attorney calendars, arranges for all travel required by assigned attorneys, and prepares expense accounts as needed
  • Maintains project files and keeps all matters updated and current
  • Generates various reports for audits and/or internal meetings, correspondence, documents and/or presentations; creates charts, graphs, tables, and text slides; responsible for formatting consistency and accuracy on time-sensitive, high-profile documents
  • Upholds the Crawford Code of Conduct

 

Requirements

 

  • Minimum 7 years’ of legal assistant experience within the insurance industry preferably focusing on litigation.
  • Knowledge of insurance claim and risk management claims handling and procedures.
  • Associate’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strict compliance with required confidentiality, discretion and diplomacy.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to use judgment, tact, and discretion.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate oral and written data, to analyze facts and draw logical conclusions.
  • Ability to maintain records, and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent telephone, writing, and proofreading skills.
  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong technology and computer skills including Power Point, word processing and spreadsheet software, e-mail and database software programs; Ability to perform legal research.
  • High level of proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, legal forms and documents, legal practices and procedures, litigation, and legal calendaring highly desired.
  • Strong initiative and ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion with regard to reporting functions.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Knowledge of insurance claim and risk management claims handling and procedures
