Position Summary

Defines, develops, documents and implements business processes; participates in the identification and/or development of technology that will enable efficient delivery of top quality services in the areas of Property and Casualty claims adjudication.


  • Documents existing business processes.
  • Identifies gaps, inefficiencies and areas requiring enhancements.
  • Identifies business unit needs for process change and system improvements.
  • Identifies opportunities for process and technology changes that will increase efficiency and service quality.
  • Develops new business processes that will increase efficiency and service quality.
  • Documents and communicates the necessary technology requirements to support them.
  • Defines system workflows, business rules and jurisdiction rules to support process designs.
  • Ensures that the workflow and rules are enabled through technology.
  • Identifies technologies and applications that can enable process improvements.
  • Evaluates the impact of proposed technology on productivity and quality.
  • Participates in the design and development of technology to support process designs.
  • Plans in the implementation of new or improved business processes and supporting technology including training service delivery and client personnel
  • Provides input to Business Units (including Operations, Sales and Client Service Management) regarding process change and new technology.
  • Consults with clients regarding process change and new technology.
  • Makes system design decisions on behalf of business units.
  • Communicates effectively with technology vendors and senior management.
  • Serves as a knowledge resource on process design and enabling technology.
  • Completes user acceptance on new technology delivered by technology vendor prior to field deployment.
  • Participates in special projects as requested.



  • Requires a bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least five years previous experience in service delivery and general business experience.

  • Experience in problem analysis.

  • Subject matter expert in U.S. Property & Casualty with particular focus on claims administration systems.

  • Familiar with risk management/claims administration/healthcare management processes and approaches.

  • Familiarity with Crawford processes and approaches an asset.

  • Clear understanding of insurance terminology.

  • Business acumen.

  • Understanding of need for high productivity and knowledge of how to deliver service profitably.

  • Ability to bring order to unstructured information.

  • Can develop and present information to large and small groups.

  • Can build consensus. 

  • Strong negotiation, analytical and interpersonal skills. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Strong PC skills including familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office. 

  • Familiarity with Crawford system applications a must.
